Ode To A River

The sun-fed breathe touched the whites
Gave way to a Rushing might
The new born with energy bright
Started the course of Teesta’s flight

The narrow one fighting the boulders
Breaking rocks carrying them on shoulders
Making its way through hills and valleys
Cutting the edges stunning beholders

Run run Mylady run
Flying from cliffs in pools to plunge
Your waves waltz in royal fun
Her highness steps in new indulge

Plains welcome the Teesta blues
Wider and wider it spreads its wings
Golden fields smile at her
Green Monsoon floods it brings

The water greys from its aged plight
Clays fall out on the riversides
Eating up the land it once fed
The queen’s bed slowly subside

Alas comes the time to merge
A time to unite with the sacred Rhine
Neither death nor the end
A new journey to the Infinite
