- Arijit Datta Ray and Pritish Mukherjee like this.
- Sangram Banerjee True Sense of religion converts an animal to human and convert a human to godness.....Sri Sri Ramakrishna
- Utpal Chakrabarty Religion is an innate nature of men - be it ancestor worship or moral laws - it is religion which makes men do that.
A tree is known by the best fruit it produces - not by the rotten one. - Pritish Mukherjee Religion produced the word 'Secular' and 'Pseudo-secular' selling which is the biggest business in India..... most profitable
- Shreyoshi Ghosh Utpal Chakrabarty - agreed to what u commented and that just proves my point, that people become so weak due to religion that they need to depend on it to be moral and their willpower goes down the drain, so these spineless religious people lacking willpower are the best fruits...bravo
- Shreyoshi Ghosh Sangram Banerjee I am not equating religion with Spirituality and Philosophy. Rama Krishna was more a spiritual person than a mere religious leader... don't get confused between these two terms - religion and spirituality, as Kanjibhai in the same movie nicely said where there is God there is no need for religion and where there is religion there is hardly any space for God.
- Utpal Chakrabarty On the contrary what I said means that religions makes a man strong - from its rudimentary form of ancestor worship to the Vedantic idea that "Thou art That" - all is God.
A husband loves the wife more if he sees God in her - and vice versa. That is what religion does - it turns the earth into heaven. - Ujjal Sengupta Every aspect of life can be used in wrong and right way,e.g: education can make a better citizen or can make a person better terrorist (osama bin laden). So also religion. It is a way of life and every person has the responsibility to make a better religion and not to utilize it in a wrong way. Belief in God is the most important aspect.
- Shreyoshi Ghosh On the contrary we have seen religion especially Semitic religions turning the earth into hell. What heaven u r referring to.....as for a husband to see 'God' in wife....why do we need to see God in someone as long as we learn to respect other people f...See More
- Utpal Chakrabarty Because we are God - Thou Art That - Tatwamasi
You can laugh - you can cry - and you can say all that - but it is only as good as it goes - and it does not go very far.
And most of those brave ones need God when they have head aches or tooth aches - loses job - of gets a ditch - - Shreyoshi Ghosh U r mixing up religion with spirituality UC....FYI God is not described definitely by the Vedas, It says Thou Art That, it does not say what is That even in Nasadiya Sukta which is the agnostic scripture of the Vedas, the idea of God is nullified an...See More
- Utpal Chakrabarty They are the same - one is the ritual part, the other philosophical - they are one and the same - because both lead to the same end.
- Shreyoshi Ghosh ur conclusion is totally agnst the scripturues u hv referred in ur previous comments......
- Utpal Chakrabarty It may seem so to you Shreyoshi Ghosh - but in reality there is no difference - no spiritual person can be irreligious - and no religious person can be non-spiritual. Think carefully - you are an intelligent person - I am sure you will understand
- Ujjal Sengupta If you snatch religion from a person, the person will make you the religion (or God) - God(Akshyay Kumar) in OMG
- Shreyoshi Ghosh read Vedas properly UC, it clearly says religion has nothing to do with God or spirituality, m not saying what is seeming to me but what the scriptures say, the same scriptures which u referred to......to be godly or spiritual one need not be religious & ritualistic
- Shreyoshi Ghosh Rig, Sam, Yajur all three & even Upanishads........Rig even gives us the authority to question existence of God and creation altogether. Read Nasadiya Sukta if u want specific references, its part of Rig Veda
- Shreyoshi Ghosh the concept of Nastik is largely derived from Nasadiya Suktam of Rig Veda, it is exactly opposite to Purusha Suktam which describes God as a being......as I said our Vedas range from most theistic to most atheistic philosophies, nothing is absolute
- Shreyoshi Ghosh i do my reading often diligently without the prejudice of religion and wisdom, u may like to do the same as suggested to me
- Harimohan Pillai This complexity of emotional/rational duel between religion and spirituality is unique to human animals... what about other animals... they seem to be deep in the spiritual bliss of being part of creation, living by instinct, co-existing with other creatures, not complaining or whining... and we humans apparently believe that we are the superior... Ha! Big Joke!
- Shreyoshi Ghosh very well said Harimohan Pillai humans consider themselves as center of the universe....... who knows the truth
- Harimohan Pillai 'Man is an insignificant episode of an ephemeral planet in the universe' - Bertrand Russell
- Shreyoshi Ghosh Vedas are so open with regards to atheism that atheistic philosophies like Samkhya, Mimamsa, Charvaka and Ajivika philosophies have evolved out of 'diligent & sincere study' of the Vedas.........Vedanta which is known to most Indians, is not the only philosophy in India
- Utpal Chakrabarty Do you read Sanskrit SG? I can't - I can only read the English translation - but just for the record - even religion does not need God -
- Shreyoshi Ghosh Russell's teapot what's ur say on that HM? I am still unable to find a Vedic argument for this highly atheistic concept
- Harimohan Pillai Thought has no language I suppose... In whatever language we read, our mind converts into its own 'machine language' (perhaps, a binary... yes,no,yes,no...) and we swirl like a pendulum, between theism and atheism...
- Shreyoshi Ghosh my knowledge of Sanskrit is very limited, I also read Vedas & Upanishads in English & get them explained by Sanskrit scholars when in doubt.......yes religion as it is today doesnt need God, it needs Godmen LOL...........however, the true meaning of re...See More
- Harimohan Pillai Russell's teapot, if launched from Chedi's universe, would have cause a storm in it...
- Shreyoshi Ghosh no they are not thats why have mentioned them separately, but Nasadiya Suktam is part of Rig Veda - 10th Manadalam
- Harimohan Pillai We have succumbed our great ancient traditions of 'Shastrarth' by scholars to the Western race of seminars, conferences and paper publications in refereed journals...
- Utpal Chakrabarty I knew you would say that - Shreyoshi Ghosh - Upanishads are the last part of the Vedas - and they are called Vedanta - and since they were given in person - sitting close by - they are called Upanishad - which means "sitting close"
That is why I asked you to read them carefully! - Shreyoshi Ghosh Vedanta is the philosophy derived from the Vedas, one of the six Vedic philosophies......this is why I said I do my studies diligently
- Utpal Chakrabarty But Vedanta - the other name of Upanishads - are part of the Vedas - so you should have read the Upanishads when you read the Vedas - right?
It seems you did not read the Upanishads but you said you read the Vedas - I am confused! - Shreyoshi Ghosh I read Upanishads often as its always easy to understand Vedas thru Upanishads, Upanishads are mostly considered as Vedic texts and not Vedas itself, they give perspective views of the Vedic shlokas.
- Shreyoshi Ghosh both vedas for shlokas and references and Upanishads for the inherent meanings and Gita unfortunately in English. What about u, Utpal Chakrabarty ?
- Utpal Chakrabarty Hinduism allows for atheism - because we are basically all atheists - we only pretend to be otherwise because we are too scared to call ourselves atheists.
Had we not been atheists - I would not be writing this post - because "he who knows Bramhan becomes Bramhan" - Shreyoshi Ghosh there u go UC, this is exactly I was talking abt, evn while running late for a train I pray God pls let me reach on time...........but I dont know to whom m praying, how can I believe something which I dont know so I am agnostic in contrast to an atheist, even my FB religious states claims it - Nasadiya Suktam the agnostic philosophy of Vedas........all those who say they believe in religion are mere liars, because neither they have any belief in god nor they know what religion (Dharma) means
- Harimohan Pillai This is Shastrarth... Utpal Chakrabarty and Shreyoshi Ghosh.... I am enjoying this!
- Shreyoshi Ghosh Dharma derived from Dhri dhaatu in Sanskrit meaning ‘to hold’, ‘to bear’, ‘to carry’ or ‘to support’. That which holds together or supports is dharma. In this sense dharma encompasses all ethical, moral, social and other values or principles, code of conduct and behavior which contribute to the well-being, sustenance and harmonious functioning of individuals, societies and nations and which prevent their disintegration. This is the meaning of Dharma or the mutilated English derivative Religion but instead we have made a monkey out of it.
- Shreyoshi Ghosh In Sanskrit, there is no word which is the exact equivalent of ‘religion’. The word ‘religion’ connotes a set of dogmas and beliefs, a code of conduct, a Founder, a Sacred Book and a Church or similar institution. Such a concept of Institutionalized religion is alien to Hindu thought (unless one refers to pervert interpretations of Manu Smriti) . In fact, Hinduism (more properly ‘Sanatana Dharma‘ ) accommodates within its fold people with widely differing beliefs and dogmas.6 minutes ago · Edited · Like
- Utpal Chakrabarty The essence of religion is to know that there is something beyond the senses - transcendental - and become spiritual.
In the final analysis - one does not pray to anyone else - but to oneself. Rama performed Durga puja to kill Ravana - who did He worship? He worshipped Himself - the shakti aspect of His being. - Shreyoshi Ghosh on the contrary the so-called religion as we know robs a person of spirituality........self or something else who knows, there is nobody to know, the doll of salt dissolves in salt ocean when it tries to know what is salt
