Against Einstein's notion of Evil

"Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is not like faith, or love that exist just as does light and heat. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light." ~ Albert Einstein

Argument 1: How can God be Almighty, omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient and still be absent so as to give space to evil?

Vijaya Senthil Perhaps, we should read 'God' as consciousness. Evil is a complete unconscious action, in my opinion.

Argument 2: An act of evil requires presence of mind, functioning of mind requires consciousness. So evil is not an unconscious action. Thus if God = Consciousness, it can be concluded God is there even in evil.

Sivamritha Nivedhidha Here 'absence of God' only means absence of Godhood , the divine nature or godly characters in the human mind . If should take it in philosophical terms , then God is beyond such dualities as good or evil , both are just relative terms of action that varies according to the situation in which its performed.

Rational Response Squad pales into insignificance before the description of our "NIRGUNABRAHMA" . Is there any such thing called good or bad here ? Our definition of the supreme power is that IT is beyond such colors of the mortal world.

Argument 3: Einstein's concept of God was formed out of Semitic religious theology which is ignorant of Advaitya or Nirguna Brahma, hence he was right from his knowledge point of view but he definitely missed out the logic of arguments 1 & 2

Godhood and Divine Nature both are qualities. Anything with qualities is limited. Here quality includes form as well, hence we would refer to Nirguna-Nirakaar Brahma. There is no Godhood as Nirguna is beyond (not devoid of) qualities. May be there is no God concept either, the idea of creator or creation becomes abstract. So this has to be a question of Saguna Brahma.

The Vedantic concept of Saguna Brahma is different from the God of Abrahmic religions which has the concept of Satan, a different entity from God, evil is separated from God. This gives rise to the paradox of Euthyphro dilemma. But the Vedantic (qualified) God or Saguna Brahma is all inclusive, death or evil are not separated from God and It's creation. So in this case Euthyphro dilemma doesn't come up as pious and impious are all included in God. The love of God is compared to sun rays which enlightens everything equally.

The question remains why still some are good & some are bad, what makes them so? If it is Karma then what makes Karma? Original Sin we can put to rest as it makes a lovely bedtime story unless the philosophy underneath is discussed. There may be two possibilities according to me -

Possibility 1- Saguna Brahma is not uniform in its creation, the 3 gunas - sattwa, rajas & tamas mix in various proportions creating disparity in creation. Question. is why so unless it is a whimsical play of God - wishful Leela?

Possibility 2 -Everything has to pass thru same phases, it is repetitive divine evolution process which could be called systematic play of God or well-defined Leela, still Question remains why so?

I guess only another question can answer this - as Bhagvan Ramana Maharishi recommended the query of 'Who Am I?' The answer to this question is critical as without it one cannot judge what is good and what is evil and how are they created? The answer is required to understand and realize what are we and where we stand. What I think as evil may be good to another. So who is this I thinking that something is evil, when this who is answered  all questions related to Why and How will find their way home as well.

OM!
